Yea, so Rich, you were gonna get 50% off anyways....actually. 25 people entered, so it was basically 50/50.

You guys make me sick.

This guy really puts an effort into writing a book about the Dark Basic Pro programming language, it seems to me he is paying for all financial costs himself, he even give away 10 free copies to forum members (who probably will read it and use it).

But all you can do is push him down and flame him? You should be SALUTING him for doing this, giving him some respect!

This forum is really harsh, not a nice place for newbies nor oldbies which try to have a serious discussion and keep this place friendly, just look at the team requests forum. All good programmers and artists don't give a damn about it because of all the flaming.

This is so sad.

Keep it up Hoss and all others contributing to this book, you are doing a great job.

It's a bit more complicated than that, recycled. This one guy has a history of plagarism, theft, blatant cheap money-making schemes and general complete untrustworthiness. If the book is good, that's good... but the veterans of this community have good reason not to trust him until we see the darn thing ourselves.

@recycled: Ofcourse you don't know, you werent around much. In the past this guy would do every bad thing in the book, ranging from stealing art work and code, to taking credit for other peoples web templates(anyone remember the "Free 100 templates collection" scheme?), to conctantly spamming the forum with nothing but stupidness. I'm surprised there is still a handfull (more like fingerfull) of people on this forum who actually still beilive him.

EDIT: And yea, the money making schemes list is through the roof. You have no idea how many people this guy tried to cheat.

recycled, he's going to try to profit from all this, so most of us could care less what kind of money he's put into it The saddest part is that if he were to, by some miracle, start selling these things, the people who actually did the work aren't going to see much of the money, if any.

Actually, Jimmy, it goes 50/50 between all writers in the book.

ok let me say something... (you have no choice but anyway!)

I feel as though i know quite abit about Hoss and the book. He might have done some things but as recylced says who cares. if he has done something wrong and was trying to clear the slate and make people like him you wouldnt give him a chance (not saying this is what hes doing just a hypothetical point) The book wont be that long for several reasons. i am writing for it and had to have it ready for friday, (@HOSS:-on a side note did Mat give you it/tell you it was done?),because he wants it finished.

Just shut up the lot of you and give him a break

PS-- if it doesnt happen on friday its probaly cos i got confused!

The people whose code he stole and claimed was his care. The people whose money he tried to part from them in his ridiculous schemes care. The people whose games he tried to claim were his (without even editing the application at all) care. The people whose web templates he stole and claimed were his would care if they knew.

That really wasn't a very good question to try and convince people.

If you aren't good at it then maybe you shouldnt really talk alot.

But ofcourse it's just a suggestion, I can't really stop you.

Quote: "if he has done something wrong and was trying to clear the slate and make people like him you wouldnt give him a chance"

He is too far in to back out now. Even if he did change no one will bother anymore.

The only thing he can do is make a new account and don't let anyone find out who he really is. That's all.

Tell you what. If his book arrives at my house and it's the following, then I'll forgive him.

a) Written by HIM and not someone else's editid tutorials. Bielive me, I'll know.

b)Is indeed a real book.

c) Every one who contributed was paid/credited equally.

d) The book is darn good.

There, now I set a standered.

How many people worked on the book? Three? Four? 50/50 just means that two people will get one half of the money each, leaving the others out.

Apparently not only is Hoss probably pirating all of the material in his book, he's not being fair and keeping all of the money to himself (more than likely two of the people working on that book are just two of his aliasses).

Cheers,
Preston

Powersoft, 'doing something wrong' is different than plagarism. Plagarism is, among communities of developers, unforgivable. It is also a truly cheap and dirty crime that requires someone with basically no ethics whatsoever to commit. I'd be more willing to forgive someone of attacking me with an axe than I would of plagarism. See what I mean?

We'll just have to see when the book comes out.
