How do I export blender files to a format Dark Basic Pro understands? I tried the X exporter and it doesn't seem to work. I have the latest version(2.33a)

Also because of the exporting probs, would MilkShape be a better choice?

MS3d is a good swiss army knife of tools. If you can find a format that Blender ands MS3d share, you'll be good to go.

Also, I found a Blender to X export script and posted to this forum. With a little luck you might find it via the search feature.

The X export script doesn't seem to work. Neither does the 3ds converter. The 3ds converter give an error: "No module named String"

I believe im using the latest Python version but im not sure. Are the new versions compatible w/ old scripts?

[EDIT] Nevermind, just looked at python site and newest version is 2.34! i had 2.23 lol. Works now!

Well, never mind again! lol. It seems that the Direct X exporter is incompatible with the new version, and the 3ds converter, although it does convert it, the file will not load in DBPro(crashes with no error reading)
What should i do now?

I'd post the problem/look for a solution on the Blender forums since I'm not a Blender guru.

Zircher.

I am testing the latest version of x exporter for Blender.(am a "private tester", somehow)

I have a version that seems to be working perfectly...

But yet found some problem.

It could be out soon or could be not.

Only I can say is with an standard skeleton seems to already work...

But is not been releasd and wont till all is polished

I already know it works in another x based import game engine.

That's good to hear. As a general rule, a well formed .X file should work just as well in game engine A as game engine B. I know that in DBP 1.054 the .X parser has been improved and supports more .X properties than before.

"But yet found some problem."

problem spoted and mainly solved, though yet some details need refining, but quite small

hey, unless something weird happens (it could be) seems this is gonna be a workable tool for any engine importing x...

a tip is usually saving the x file again in mview from the MS SDK of dx8, usually make it a more standard x file.

I don't expect it tobe massivly used as too many people find it hard to use Blender, but those that like me like it, will be in luck

Yeah, but it you want something nice and powerful and you are willing to deal with the learning curve, Blender 3D is a good choice.

If I wasn't hooked up with half a dozen other tools, I'd consider using it. But, I've already made my investment in other tools and technologies.

yup.

no doubts is good. Complex to learn (mor ethan anything out there) but good.

even being used for that spiderman thing (most surely as the one in charge of it was a blender freak) Blender is not at the quality level of Maya, LW or Max, in any way. But for free, it's th most powerful package out there.

I already learnt what I needed of it. Indeed, if I had th etime, I'd already be doing some realtime cg work and exporting in x format for game projects and stuff with the test version I'm lucky to have.
