Hi all,

Just wondering what folks suggested download managers were. Basically something that'll let me continue a disconnected download.

I don't trust 99% of the crud out there.

Currently I'm using Netants

You can download it from here:
http://www.netants.com/en/download.html

Most important, it is free!

1 + 1 is not 2, is 10

I use Metaproducts Download Express

Works very well has all the standard resume/multiple download threads etc, also has a speed setting that can be very useful.

I downloaded it from TUCOWS but I think you can also download it from http://www.metaproducts.com/mp/mpProducts_Downloads_Current.asp

Free for non-commercial use (its always done everything I've ever wanted).

Get Mozilla Firefox and use the download manager it has. I got it to try it out just to see how the IE competition was doing and ended up using it just cuz it was better

Im not sure if i believe the reviews at download.com anymore, my indisense detects its from the producers of the company who give it the best rep.

now visit www.speedguide.net and get the speedpatch for your OS.

if the pc was 56k prior it will make the mtu 1500 and that makes it fly when it comes to downloads.

sguide tweak from memory is what you want.

you can also select part of the ram to the network card. give it 8 megs and watch it fly

8 megs in the old days was 50% of my ram luckily we have 2gigs of ram as an average in my studio.

Download Accelerator is what I use ([href]http://www.speedbit.com [/href]).

It also searches for other locations to download your file from and automatically chooses the best locations

I'm with Indi on both counts

I swore off download.com as the last time I got something from there it installed a whole slew of spyware crap on my machine, none of which was asked for, agreed to, or mentioned prior to the install - bunch of spankers
