I have heard that Dark Basic Pro is good, but Game Studio uses C and has a model editor and map editor plus physics engine built in and I have made a lot of money(2500 U.S. Currency to be correct) so I'm willing to pay any amount on a game system can you recommend any?It does not have to be just the 2 I mentioned.

I'm proud to anounce that now that I'm president you can say bye to Europe!

Use whatever you feel the most comfortable with and that does the job the best.

Game Studio is just a games engine
DBPro is a programming language that is biased towards game programing

so it depends on what you want to do

PC Spec- AMD Athlon 2.0Ghz, GeForce FX5200 128mb, 512MB of ram, Win XP Home SP1

Error 0 = no error - how is this an error the???

You'll need a massive $900 of that to buy a decent version of 3D Game Studio without any water marks, logos, splash screens, nags, etc.

If this is just a project for a friend, well.. I don't know about you, but that seems a little excessive to me. Perhaps if you wanted to release commercial titles into stores - then it would make more sense

Why not download trials of them both and see which one suits you? It's a highly subjective thing after all. Also post specific questions to the forums on here and their site to gauge the responses.

Oh and you should have posted this into General Talk really - you'd get a better response there.

Also, if C is your thing, then you can code DBPro stuff in C (using Visual studio 6/7 or Dev-C++) using the interface library I provide for free.

save your money son! get Darkbasic pro, ask me why?

well, 1st of all I have seen Game studio in use and basically if you are a C expert then that's one story, if not then trust me, it will take about 20lines of code to get just a sentense on middle of your screen, also Game studio will suit you after you graduate from uni of Game programming. Till then you better stick with Darkbasic!

if you are begginer then read below!

Let's say you have a month deadline and you desire to develop with Game studio. After 1month of deadline your boss are expecting a full working PACMAN! well it would take you a week or so to get your sprite on screen and give it AI control whereas DBPro it would take you hmmmmmm about 4-5hours!
Haaaa you see what I mean

If I was you, I would purchase DBPro plus few Modellers e.g. Gamespace, Cartagory Shop, and that tutorial DB Book!

heheeeee hope this helps!

There are many "VS" (DarkBASIC vs 3DGS/Blitz3d) Threads here in this community and in the Gamestudio community in wich i have also paeticipated.

All the + and - have been retalked and talked and talked and blah blah again and again.

from my side both are good and both are bad.
take what it better suit to you,and if you dont know what better suit and stay were you was and dont even think about game development, its just not for you..
If you still want to lern, buy some book wich explain game development and then, but just then buy an engine.

Choose DBpro, if your used to c then your development in DBPro or DB
would be drastically. AND NO I'M NOT JUST A FANBOY of DarkBasic

I have the A5 version of 3Dgame studio pro, and it's a doddle to whack a FPS game together using one of the pre defined scripts. if adventure games or RPG games is your thing then there is a bundled script that will aid you in the design of that type of game also. 3DGS also has a very easy to use world builder which can be learned in a couple of days. The new A6 version has support for X models, shader support and all things funky. If you have seen any results from the Torque engine then you know what to expect and more. also the manual that comes with it is HUGE the examples are pretty good as well. Almost anything PRO can do you can do with A6pro edition. However, as a programming language with DX support, DarkBASIC pro is much quicker to learn than the C-script language that 3dgs uses. it's still fairly intuitive though. I'd stick to pro and spend all that extra mullah on supporting apps to build a complete studio for games development. Darkbasic also has the better community, HANDS DOWN. But it's YOUR decision.

My shopping list would be:

Darkbasic pro
Gamespace or Truespace 6.6 (models and 3D animation)
Soundforge 7.0 (for your audio Samples)
Orion PRO / Platinum (for your music)
Photoshop / Corel photopaint or PROcreate Painter 7. (bitmaps)
Pixologic Zbrush. (beyond the world of pixels and polygons, awesome)

regards geecee3.
