Concept Software Team Request

---------------------------------------------------------------------

REASONS FOR REQUEST

I need a team to help with Scott the Malformed Coshy's Big Adventure.
The whole modelling bit is holding me back, as I am more of a programmer.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

THE GLOBAL REQUIREMENTS!

Every member of the team must, I repeat, must have MSN messanger. To stay organized, the team will meet every Sunday night on MSN and share their progress. (Chat times will be speicified when all the members have joined, and we can decide on a time convienient for all.)

There is a specific way I would like each week's worked handed to me. Every staff member needs to create a zip folder containing their weel's work....it should be set up like this.

[Sorry for using the code command, its the only way I could use spaces to create that file-tree effect.]

For instance, a landscape modeller's zip folder for week 5 would look like:

Remember, the key to progress is organization.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

3D MODELLING

SLOTS AVAILABLE: 2 (If more people than that want to help, thats great)

Our current 3D Modelling staff consists of:

SLOT OPEN :: Landscape artist [trees, boulders, hedges, etc.]
SLOT OPEN :: Lifeform artist [pretty much anything you interact with]

If you are interested in modelling for us, here are the requirements.....

Requirements
o Any modelling software (or chain of software) that you can export to .3ds AND .x...by chain, I mean if you need to use two programs to get a .x model (one to model, one to convert,) thats ok...as long as you have a way of exporting to both.
o A general knowledge of 3D modelling (you will be expected to create [as a landscape modeller] three landscape objects a week, and [as a lifeform modeller] one-two objects a week, depending upon complexety.)
o You need to be FLEXIBLE. Each staff member has to be very open-minded, as this project is only just originating, and changes can often be for the bset.

Got that? Great, here is some information on your position.

Game: Scott the Malformed Coshy's Big Adventure
Type: 3D platformer/Third Person RPG
Team: Concept Software
Your Role: 3D Modeller (Landscape or Lifeform)
Your Jobs: Listed above

This is a [conceptual] model of a normal Coshy. The feel of the game (graphic-wise) is simple and cartoonish-most of the models will consist of very primitive and unchanged shapes.

TEXTURE ARTIST

SLOTS AVAILABLE: 2 (If more people want to help, thats great)

Our current Texture staff consists of:

SLOT OPEN :: Enviornment texturer [anything you dont interact with]
SLOT OPEN :: Props/NPC/PC texturer [self explanitory]

If you are interested in texturing for us, here are the requirements.....

Requirements
o A decent graphics program. Please, no MS Paint applicants.
o A general knowledge of texturing methods [uv mapping etc.]
o If you are a texturer, you need to create three textures a week, one for each model the modellers create. (You start texturing the week after the modellers make their objects...so on week 2, you'll be working on week 1's models.)
o You need to be FLEXIBLE. Each staff member has to be very open-minded, as this project is only just originating, and changes can often be for the bset.

Got that? Great, here is some information on your position.

Your Jobs: Listed above

Here's a conceptual grass pattern. Nothing special, but substantial.

Heres a conceptual image of what Scott could look like, textured and all.
BONING & ANIMATING

SLOTS AVAILABLE: 3 OR 6

Our current boning and animating staff consists of:

SLOT(S) OPEN :: Generic Animator

If you are interested in boning and animating for us, here are the requirements.....

Requirements
o You [obviously] need to bone/animate. All animated models will be exported to .x
o If there are three animators, then each will do two animations a week. If there are six animators, each will do one animation a week. (Like texturers, animators will work on the modeller's PREVIOUS week's work...animators will be on week 2 and will be working on the models the modellers created in week 1.)
o You need to be FLEXIBLE. Each staff member has to be very open-minded, as this project is only just originating, and changes can often be for the bset.

STORYLINE TASTER

High on the mountaintops live a simple people - the Coshies. [Koh-shees.] Coshies live off the magic water spring that flows from the very peak of the mountain.

One day, Jula, a middle-class Coshy citizen, gave birth to Scott. Scott was unlike the other Coshies. Scott only had one body section, and no arms. No one ever played with Scott, and he was a social outcast.

In a far away land, Dexter, the Rock Fanatic lived. He scours the earth for rocks, and brings them back to his giant rock collection cellar. Dexter had heard tales of mystical rocks that lay under the springs that the Coshies strive off of. Dexter devised a plan to plug the spring so he could collect rocks as he wished.

Five years later, his plan followed through. The spring was plugged up, and in effect, he collected rocks to his heart's content. But as a result of the spring being plugged, the Coshies had a severe draught and couldn't support all the Coshies that lived there. Many were cast out of the kingdom, the first being Scott. Now he was not only a social outcast, but a real one.

Months went by and Scott became depressed. He wouldnt eat or sleep...he was in desperate need of a freind.

One day Scott went down to a nearby watering hole when he noticed a rock with what looked like a face. The rock was doubed "Rocko", and the two became best freinds. Scott was finally happy.

Dexter was on his daily scours when he came across Rocko. "A fine rock indeed," he proclaimed as he scooped up the rock from his giant hot-air balloon.

Scott was out picking dandelions for Rocko. When he returned, to his horror, his best friend was gone. He looked around desperately, and saw Dexter's balloon floating off into the horizon.

Join Scott as he sets out on an adventure to regain his friend, and in the process, stop the evil Dexter and unplug the spring and gain his social standings among his people.

Thanks, Barcoder!

I'd be perfectly happy to put you in the credits -- tell me if you have a problem with that.

This brings up a good point -- donations are welcome! Anyone who donates will be appropriately credited for whatever they donate.

Thats becasue everyones taken, the only reason good requests like this one go unanswered and drowned is that no one has anything to say, when bad requests stay alive becasue theres plenty to say

Sorry dude, I can't help you.

Well I see that you have screen shots of your models, thats something but what people realy like to see is ingame screen shots, people would much rather jump on a boat that can float then building one from scratch.

Problem: no game yet, cause I cant get any decent models.

The only program I can model/texture/animate well in is gmax, and that only exports to .p3d

So, I have no models, not even placeholders, so I can't code the game.

You can code with primitives and then once yu have the models you can replace them and change the commands to fit for model animation.

Got anime?
I do.

That's not as hard to model, you could use DeleD for it.

or Multiscape, it exports really nice looking organic landscapes into .x format. Thats what I use, and as for not having models, dont let that stop you, look at my project, I have friken cubes for characters.

Haha mindstorm.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I'll get to work on a battle engine, then maybe people will be more inclined to join the team.

Thanks for the advice, guys!

EDIT-
Tried multiscape, its awesome!
However, after I exported the damn thing to .x, it didnt have the lovely 3-layered texture I had put on...dubbya tee eff, mate?
