Here is an almost completed remake of the classic 'Jenga' tower game. A few minor enhanchments are still needed, though it is still fully playable at the moment. Have a look and see what you think.

This game makes use of the Newton Physics Engine made possible by Walabers wrapper, I also plan to release the source code soon.

That's pretty cool . Although sometimes the wrong block is picked. Are you using pick object? Also I think the layers counting is wrong, mine always said i had 104 layers or something .

Yes, i'm using the pick object function created by 'Dmitry Kuschev',(see codebase), as it works with multiple camera's, where as the DBPro pick object didn't. I have noticed the same problem with the pick objects as you, though haven't found a way of fixing it yet.

I will work on the layer counter, with a nicer graphical display, will be fixed in next release. I added that bit in a rush, so needs imporvement.

I wonder, why does the game lag, when I use 30 layers it even goes slower than ut2004 on maximum details. :S

Btw, I love the physics, select the bottom-middle block and scroll the mouse wheel. If you do it just a tiny bit the upper part of the tower explodes

That's just the way that the physics engine goes. It can't deal with that many stacked blocks very well.

it's a combination of reasons.

1) Newton is not specifically optimized for stacked bodies.

2) DBPro REALLY slows down with multiple cameras, especially when you have 3 extra cameras like this example.

I have now released the source code to this program I made, so hopefully some of you out there will find it useful.
I have tried to document how it works for those trying to learn the newton commands, and hopefully we will see some more programs out there using this engine soon!

It looks great, haven't tried it yet - but I'm thinking that it'd be more fun with 1 simple viewport, like easily rotate the view, just like playing the real thing when you scan the blocks from all angles looking for a good move.

If you quit the game, you should explode the tower thing - frustrating games like that need a bit of unnecessary violence to lighten the mood. At least we don't have to rebuild the tower everytime!.

Well here it is again, another small update.

This version has a lot more stable tower, and wont fall over as soon as a block from the bottom layer is removed.
Also a new menu structure to make it look a lot more complete.
And finally, you can now visibly tell which block you are about to pull before you pull it, which should help prevent you pulling the wrong one out by accident.
And one or two minor tweaks.

Looks good, apart from there is a weird occurence where the frame rate suddenly increases when you click the lmb.

Very nice.

I noticed same thing as Hamish. Game is quite sluggish when playing normally but holding down mouse and moving pointer around and everything is really quick and smooth. Go figure...
