I'm making a platforming (for the most part [some bonus levels will be matrix based]) game.

Whats the best way to go about obtaining () or creating () a level editor suitable for making platforming levels?

I'm aiming for a look similair to Dumbo:

And NOT tiled based, like Miss Kitty Fantastico:

If there's a program I could use (would DeleD work?) how would I use it in a fashion suitable for platforming level design?

Thanks!

Well, I imagine a platform game working only in 2D right (only x,y coords)? In that case, you could build your platforms in 3D in the front view of any 3D modeller. Save your work and then only use the x,y coordinates of your 3D world and voila, a 2D world is born.

I guess you would have to work out some more details but in theory, yeah, I think it could work.

Use the free 3D modeller DeleD to get skilled in 3d editing! Visit http://www.delgine.com for more info.

Hmm...no, I'm not looking for a 2d enviornment.

Try Dumbo's demo, and you'll get an idea of what I'm talking about

I just use Anim8or(or something like it). its great for making simple objects so its perfect for a platform environment. but deled would also be just fine.
