I have a project for a webmaster. The person should have a good knowledge of css, php, and an interest in
modern games. The person should have excellent (American) English grammar.
The basic idea is a site like TGC that covers mainstream games as well, and is not tied to any single company. Mods, commercial games, and indy games are all put together in the same categories.
GameDev is confusing to look at, and deals only with programming. TGC is DB-specific. Blitzbasic.com...well, let's not go there. There really isn't a good all-purpose game development site out there.
Various editors are listed, along with screenshots, demos, and links to purchase directly from the author. TGC makes a lot of money, because they get a lot of traffic that exposes all their products. I don't see this as something that will compete with TGC, since this isn't aimed at DB users. Rather, this is a generic game development site that offers lots of tools for any dev system, as well as code, tutorials, and a forum not (un)moderated by Blitz Research. DB and Torque and Blitz developers can discuss common issues and pool resources. Program authors could potentially make a LOT more money if they are listed on a site where people go looking for development solutions.
The site is designed so that most of the content can be auto-generated, but it needs someone to stay on top of things and update the news. If you are really good with php, there are a lot of cool things we could do with this.
