I hope this is the right forum. Here is the question:

Can 3DS files converted to .x files made in Anim8tor be imported to either my DB classic or DBPro game media folders and still have the animation aspect of the file survive? I have only done static models so far, but I would like to make an animated model convert it to .x and use it in a DB game. I am fair at making models with Anim8tor, but if there is another free or low cost full featured modelling program that is easy to learn and can be used with either DB programs I would like to know about that also.

Thank you for any future replies.

Pincho is right. Anim8or cannot export animations =(
but if you have your static objects made, you can export them and animate in some other program. GameSpace or GameSpace Light can import .3ds files, animate, then export to .x. so if you like anim8or, continue using it, but you have to use another program to animate.

Milkshape is great for animating, it is only around $25 also. I bought it, but haven't done any animation yet...but I use it for static modeling, it has a great interface and can export in many different formats.
