I was pretty sure that it was matin, pain etc.

Maybe you pronounce "ain" / "ain't" differently?

ain't isn't a real word so u cant compare it to pain (bread), you could just use pain (as in hurt)

He said that the word intelligent in french is pronounced "aintelligent", as in "ain't". It doesn't really matter whether its a real word, its the sound

Since English pronunciation doesn't have nasal vowels it's a bit difficult to find analogies, I'd say.
And not only intelligent becomes a nasal vowel also intelligent. And the "t" is omitted.

Actually no, I have French friends who speak in their native tongue--- that is how they pronounce it. Maybe the French you are referring to is Winnipeg-style.

At least somebody appreciates their "humour". I, for one, can't stand it when an American asks me "Do you say eh? Eh? Eh!!" Then they proceed to laugh and slap their knee as if they've just invented the world's funniest and freshest joke. Or they'll ask "Isn't it cold there? Are you cold! Cold! Do you eat whale blubber? Do you live in an igloo and play hockey with your eskimo neighbours?"

Do you mean "we" as a country or "we" as in your province, Winnipeg. "We" as a country have tons of Inuit in the northern territories. In my province, B.C., we also have many natives. In Vancouver, however, you can play "spot the white guy" because white people are a minority. There seems to be 1 in 5-10 asians, because there is a HUGE educational market here for oversees students.

What BCRICH WARLOCK was referring to is an American imitating a Canadian by saying, "Hackey, eh?"--- it wasn't supposed to be typical American lingo. The American was referring to CANADIANS as calling hockey "hackey" (which many eastern canadians do).
