What's the best practice for creating low poly models in 3DCanvas?

If for example I start with a primitive and then extrude and split etc to make the model from that, is this a better approach than to make smaller bits from multiple primitives and then bolt them together?

If the latter does anyone have any instructions on how to weld two objects together in 3DCanvas. I'm very green at 3D modelling and also using the tools too so be gentle!

Thx
Andy

I used to start with multiple objects and bolt them together but I got so frustrated when I got the same error over and over! "Object is not solid. Try repositioning or optimizing". Now I start with one primitive and build off that.

If you want to try welding objects together, than look into the boolean operations (union, subtract, etc).
