Hi,

Some nasty aliens have stolen my copy of the freeware trueX plugin, im gutted!!! I have looked everwhere for a copy, but alas nil. Do any of the 3D massive on the forum have a copy of the TSX for v5.x of truespace? I feel like I have lost a limb without it.

If anyone has this freeware plugin, I would be most pleased if you could post a link to a copy. or mail me the zip file. If anyone can help me out, you are a saviour.

best regards and thanks, geecee3.

Yup, I don't know where I'd be without it. I even e-mailed the author for the source code if he didn't have any plans on expanding on it.

Perhaps I should e-mail him again.

@MikeS

it really is a cool plugin, I use it mainly for the flat shading export function and static objects. I can't seem to get any joy with exporting soft mesh animation. To do that I have to do a lot of messing around with the MD2 format. Do you know of a method to get deformations to export properly for use with DBP? Any info you have on Truespace directX exporting would be greatly appreciated. I want to animate between a set of meshes that share the same vertex indexes. I can do it in MD2 but it's a major task.

regards, geecee3.

I don't think so either, but it'd be nice to have it. One of my goals is eventually to create a .cob/.x to .dbo converter. While .x probebly isn't the best format to learn from(as it's complex), it's better than nothing.

To get an animated model out of Truespace with TrueX there are two things you need to do.

1.) You must make sure you have combined your object using the object combine tool. If you glue your object together, something will get messed up because the animations will only effect the main part of the hierachy.

2.) Make sure your export settings look like this.

Not really sure if that anwsers your question, for that's just how to export your model. Best to just mess with the settings a little bit.

Come to think of it. Before the summer ends, I'd like to have built that DX/.cob-> .dbo converter.

@MikeS,

cheerz for the advice m8, i have the bones animation system working as the deformer for the mesh and it exports nice. Still cant seem to get the vertex level animations to work, but that's cool, I have reviewed my method for making soft mesh objects and it's now quite speedy. I'll be posting a mesh morphing demo soon. the initial results are very promising. the .COB -> .DBO converter would be awesome. I'd buy a copy from you if you can pull it off.
