Hey, I'm not sure if anyone remembers me (I've been gone for like the last half a year atleast) but I've been checking back on the forums and things today... Seems like lots has gone on, and I may even get back into programming with DBP again so maybe someone could fill me in on what's been going on?

Cheers...

Denk.

Yes this is version 2. The original version 2 got eaten alive by patch 4 upon release.

Yeah probably because of the new pipline introduced in Patch 4.
The old mercenaries 2 used BSPs which were totally screwed up by the system. Other things like a sprite getting garbled for no reason.

However this new terrain pack looks incredible, and can create incredible terrain

terrain pack - read the newsletters

new pipeline - surely you remember how slow objects were in DBP when it first came out? you know, the whole thing where it slowed to a crawl with more than 100 objects? well it took them a few patches but in P4 they rewrote the entire 3d engine in DBP. needless to say it broke some things, that happens when you rewrite half the functionality of the language but it's better now.

wait, how long have you been gone? P4 was released last year in april. that's more than a year.

that's right. DBP fanboy through and through. SEXAAAAAAY

Lol! I didn't think I was gone that long... But I spent a while here and on IRC where I chatted more than programmed...

Good to hear it's been updated so much. Is it alot more stable than it used to be then?
