Here's some weapons I've made with 3ds max.

A Psg1 Rifle

A h&k USP .45
not fully textured yet.

A h&k UMP .45
I've not had the time to make a texture for this one yet

Hope you liked them.

like the weapons
But I just wanna know a few things...
can it open .gsm and .gsa files? --- Some friend thought he'd help me out by getting me some gun objects for my game - gave them to me, then went... but they weren't .3ds or .x files - they were .gsm files... he told me there were some animating ones that were .gsa
'course coz it was a favour, when he asked me if they worked, I wasn't gonna say no (What was I thinking???)
I've some other people saying about 3ds max, but now I've seen it in action, I really wanna know if I need to buy a copy, and convert the objects into .3ds (assuming it can do that type(but it is called 3ds max, so I guess it can)) - and... (there's more... ) it's not too hard to learn is it? if you can do that I might try giving it a go myself (Even if it can't do .gsm and .gsa files...) but if its hard to learn, then not much point eh?

(Finally, you're at the end - you can all take a long deep breath now --- and well done to anyone who read that first time without getting confused - I got confused just checking it )

...maybe one I'll finish a project

forgot to ask - how long did they take to do?
(however long it took - they're better than any others I've seen - so the time was worth it)

...maybe one I'll finish a project

Well I'm not sure of how long time the models took to make, but I'd guess a couple of hours but the textures took quite a while finding good pictures of the guns (Can't make my own textures yet) and then making all the uvw's.

No, I don't make characters, not yet atleast.
Thanks for compliments

And about the .gsm and .gsa files, I don't know what they are and I don't think you can convert them in 3dsmax either, but maybe with some plugin you can do.

PaTTE's is a better model but here is mine so far anyway, handle still needs lots of work as it's not finnished yet but it's only 320 polys

edit: maybe you could use mine as a low poly version unless PaTTE's are around the same mark

Well, I often use photos of the weapons as textures, and then fitting the uvw's to them.

yeah i was just going to texture it by making the uvmap fit the origional sword image but i'd need a better image of the sword.

I just spent about an hour looking at the fine details in those guns in the first post - Even though I saw them yesterday...

who thinks I need a life? (besides me )

Edit: (Maybe I should have said who else thinks I need it)

...maybe one day I'll finish a project
