My missus bought me a Land Rover 4x4 experience for my birthday - and it's damn good! If you are given the chance, just do it.

Taking a £60,000 Range Rover down a 1 in 3 gradient/mudslide is a moment you don't forget in a hurry. What makes it especially memorable is the instructor saying "now take your foot off the brake"... If you take that leap of faith, you realise just how intelligent a car it is - the hill descent kicks in and it drives in a straight line, 5 miles an hour, all brakes working their backsides off independantly to keep the car under control.

Leaving a car up to AI is well and good until it makes a little mistake and cuts the engine off on the train tracks

Uhh... he wasn't given the actual car, was he? I thought his present was the activity of taking the 4x4 experience, which is driving the Land Rover off-road, down mudslides and across rocky terrain. Which would mean it's more like a £160 birthday present. Sounds like a whole lot of fun though, definately something I'd want to do sometime in my life.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

4x4s are cool, not had a go in the Land Rovers but my mom has a Mitsubishi Shogun I nick sometimes on the weekends and take it down the pit. Tis alot of funning ripping it around the mud.

That said still prefer a good ol' 950 CBR any day of the week
