I'm trying to animate tank treads in 3ds max. The first thing I did was make the tread shape (it's pretty much an oval) an object, apply a tread texture to it, and rotate the UVW map box gizmo so that the texture would rotate. But apparently it doesn't export that information, because the texture didn't rotate on the model in DBP, even though other parts of the model did. Then I tried making actual treads, with each link being an extruded object, all of them deformed along a path around the wheels, and animated them in max, and exported it to .X, but that didn't show up in the animation either. The treads just remained stationary, even though they animate around the wheels in max.

Did I do something wrong with those methods, or would there be another way to animate treads for a tank?

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

I usually loft some splines for the tread. Then max will set the UVs up for you and you will only need to scroll the texture in DBP. Even if you tread isnt just a flat ribbon.
