I don't know why, but i'm taking a liking to some of DarkBasic's new features Well heres some planetary things I'm messing around with. Any comments on how to make this look a bit more realistic? And yes I know my skybox isn't working right yet ^_^

If you make a round glow texture and apply it to a plain, then position the plain with the planer, you can orientate it with the camera and get a neat atmosphere effect.

I would suggest that you make the skybox purely stars, and use ghosted plains for the cosmo stuff that you always see, like colourful gasses etc. I always find that putting too much of that stuff on the skybox makes it harder to get the impression of depth.

Looks cool though, DBPro seems very happy with space games.

For the earth-like worlds, a transparent cloud layer would be a nice touch.

Matthias: dude
Matthias: its basic
Matthias: not cross platform
Matthias: slow
Dreq: just you wait until i work on the planetary system
Matthias: dude, use the dcsdk
Dreq: gonna have pixel shaders for the water

My friend seems conviced DarkBasic Pro is literraly incapable of creating an entire game that runs great. Any of you have any comments to this?

I'll let the authors of StarWraith and 3D Mahjong know that it is impossible to write their games and that all the people that have downloaded, played, and paid for their games are lying to them.

Cross platform means absolutely jack when the vast majority of PC gamers use Windows.

Basic is just another procedural language (like Pascal or C), DBP is compiled and not interpreted like older Basic implementations.
