Honestly I find it folly to try to replace a desktop manager using DirectX. You seriously plan to interface with the win32 API in a BASIC language? Even if you did it, it'd require a LOT of C code in the form of DLLs. How do you plan on implimenting your desktop manager with the ability to handle and display applications? I've done a LOT of C++ and Win32 ASM code and I've yet to learn how to literally replace the windows window rendering subsystem.

first of im not tring to complete replace windows, i know that would take alot coding and im just not up to that. This is a better convince for me, to have a Db IDE in it and some of my other programs i plan on adding to it later on. so i guess since you cracked down on me, its not a complete shell replacment but a program to code in.

Hehe don't take it too hard. I'm not trying to talk you down, just didn't want ya jumping into this without realizing whats involved ^_^. Writing IDEs are fun though.
