Hey, below is a link to a picture detailing one of the characters in my game, March of the Fallen. His name is Eyrilus and he's an Elf. Anywayz I modelled him using 3 pictures I drew , then scanned in as a base. He was modelled and rendered in Lightwave. The reason being that I can 'bake' my UV textures allowing the inclusion of things like Radiosity and Caustics into the image file it's self.

I think the ear's need alot of work and maybe the cheek bones. I havent included eyebrows yet... Well guyz I would appreciate your critique.

Thanks, after I metaformed it , it's count was 3018. Is that too high for a head model?

Yes I think that is probably way too high. You should aim to get it down to at least 1000.

Oh god, your whole charactor should be around 1000, never mind the head
Anyway, it looks great, but there is no way it should be that high poly. First, you won't even be able to see all that detail in game most of the time, second, it could look exactly the same at say, 500 polys with good texturing and some work with shading groups.

Lol, thanks I get your point. I reduced it down to 375. The basic shape is smooth and still intact. It just needs a few touchies. I guess your right about the 3000 would be hell for DBPRO, guess I just use to LW. Thanks for the input.

i'd comment but seems most have put in a few good points
would be pretty good for a CG section, perhaps curve the value of the face "baking" within photoshop ...
add some blending and highlights would be good

hey brent where are you based? cause the name isn't that common, used to know a Brent Field (alteast i think the last name was field, i can't remember... Freds son )
probably not the same guy, but would be cool if you were.

375? That's great, as long as it still looks good. I would have imagined 500 would be the lowest...
3000 is ok for DB, as DB handles polys pretty well. The problem is older computers, and of course if you use up 3000 polys on one charactor, you have less for other charactors and scenes over all.

I don't exacctly know what you mean by based but let me take a stab at it. I live in Alabama, and have been adicted to LW and rpgs for some time. I'm not that great with photoshop, I just recently figured out the magic of layer styles. Anywayz in medieval times, Seraphimy was the highest
order of angel. So where are you based?
