When i import a .x model of a landskape from milkshape it runs at a higher fps than if i was to reate a memblock landskape.

I found that this is because of the way the vertice data is arranged.

In a memblock using fvf 338 or 274 the polygons are all seperate triagles.

In the .x object each polygon is conncted in the triangle-strip format. This way means you need half the amount of verice data for the same amount of polygons = aprox 2 times fps of seperate triangle method.

my problem is i want to be able to create polygons in db using the triangle-strip method, but i dont know how to set this. Is it something to do with fvf format, i have searched for ours and im not geting anyware.

can anyone help? big thanks to anyone who can solve my mystery.

this is the link to a page on triangle strips so you know what im talking about.

We can't avoid the 3 vert poly rule yet I'm afraid. It's actually more possible to do this in DBC than Pro because the old DBC Enhanced memblocks had a vert assign list.

Hopefully our memblock meshes will get a makeover before too long.

Incidently, have you tried the advanced terrain plugin? - uses a heightmap, detail texture, and overlay texture to make lovely terrains.
