Some old and some new part libraries from Team DoGA in LZH archives.

If you're using L1 or L2, you need to do some editing of your
part.ini files.

http://doga.jp/archive/040823/dogae1_humanparts_040823.lzh

http://doga.jp/archive/040823/dogae1_basicparts_040823.lzh

This is some very very nice stuff here. Over 40 more pages of parts so figure 650+ parts. Some of them are basic building blocks, other are nicely detailed vehicles, there are built in parts for manga/anime features and emotions, and some of the original parts got revamped and cleaned up.

Pervious part libraries for robots, humans, insects, and animals:

Thanks for the links, I'm usually good about doing that. But, this was a quick cut-n-paste to various groups.

If your DoGA using partner is needing more custome parts, he should think about adding Metasequoia LE to his set of tools. It is a free download and allows the user to customize existing parts or create/convert new ones. [A link for Meta can be found in the modeller sticky post.]

I depends on which version you have. If you have the latest L3 beta or E3, just place the files and folders in your DoGACGA/common/parts folder. If you have the original L3, you can use the menu to browse for parts. Anything older, and you have to edit your parts.ini file and perhaps add catalog pages.

I have some tutorials on that and other files on my DoGA fan support page:

Thanks, zircher!
I have one small problem:
When I try to load the new files in DOGA L1, I get a GDI failure.
Also, do you happen to have the catalog bitmaps on hand? It'd be really helpful to see what parts I'm choosing.

Thanks again!

You might have a hard time with L1 since it was not designed to be expanded upon as well as L2 and L3 are. The new libraries do not have catalog pages, so you'll have to make them from scratch using the thumbnail images in each of the Part sub folders.

One of the tutorials cover that, another option might be to use the library management tools in the newer (shareware) versions of Metasequoia.

Hmmm, there is a possibility that the SUF files used in the libraries are of a newer version than the ones used in L1 and you might have to go in with Notepad and edit the files. Open up an L1 part file and see what sections it includes, you might have to trim out everything but the geometry data.

Side note: L2 and L3 are effectively free for model makers. If you do not need the movie making ability in L1 (or don't mind registering L2 or L3), that would be the easiest solution.

It's slow, since I'm focusing on other parts of game development at the moment, things like cut scene animation have not be a priority. I'm sure when I get back to it, the translation project will pick up at the same time.

I had a trouble when I use the new parts listed above. It works but when I save my work it takes more than a minute. When I load these parts in the multi-joints designer I must wait 1 minute for each unit (average 20 mn for a character for example). It's very boring! It's just for me or someone else experience that?

Never experienced it myself. What is your machine like? Some of the new parts are higher in polygon count and if you have a fairly old machine and/or graphics card you could have some slow down.

Hnmmm you have some other issue altogether if you are having trouble with that pc.

You have my PIV 1.4 ghz PC beat by about a factor of four.

You running any sort of spyware sniffer? sounds like you have something running in the background that is grinding your resources into the dust.

If you scroll back through the DoGA BBS pages, you can find links to L3 and E3 betas. Perhaps one of the newer versions will fix your problem.

Ok thanks Zircher, I've found my trouble (It was a sort of spyware installed by error [I don't remember neither having installed it nor heard of it!!!]). I love DoGa, it's a real good tool for a very cheap price.

I'm having a problem with the new parts.
I downloaded the zips, but I can't unzip them. (are they winzip files?)
I tried to browse to them with my version of L3 (not sure if its new or old) but it wouldn't recognize the files.
Can you help?

Are you taking notes? There's going to be a test later...

LZH != ZIP (Kind of obvious in hindsight) Try WinRar which has LHA/LZH decompression built-in. http://www.rarlab.com/

Okay, I really don't want to sound like a clueless noob, but i feel like one so I probably do.
I got it unzipped via WinRar (thanx for the help on that, BTW)
Where do I put the files? I just downloaded the 2002.10.10 version, although it still says the parts assembler is 1.67.1004.
I tried just installing it to my DogaCga\L3\Common\Parts\ Directory, but I don't see any of the new stuff when I open it up.

please?

Are you taking notes? There's going to be a test later...
