Has anyone successfuly animated a mesh (no limb objects) in 3ds max and gotten the animations to run with dark basic pro? If you have then could you explain how you got it to work... thanks. I've seen simillar threads to this but none answered to my satisfaction.

Yup, I ran into the same problem as you last week. I just began learning 3d max and can't animate a mesh before. I did a small animation and it works on darkbasic pro. Tell me the command lines you use for animation?

thanks for the reply

i use set object frame, set object speed then loop object but still no movement. After making and animating the mesh in max i export as a .3ds file and then convert to .x using the old dbc converter but neither file format works... even when i import the .3ds file back into max the animations are gone! I'm not sure what my problem is...

.3DS only supports hierarchy animation, if your using boned animation, you need to find a .X exporter, 'tis the only way.

You could always grab CharacterFX and use that as an animator instead - it's $15, and I'd swap all of Max's bone animation features for it in a heartbeat.

Hehe, I have Max, yet I use Rhino3D, Lithunwrap, and CharacterFX instead - talk about a cow with a very expensive gun!.

thanks van, i'll check out the panda .x exporter for max and if that doesn't work then i'll consider using another program for animating meshes.
