Very impressive, I loved it (although I do have some thoughts on a few things I think you should modify). I loved all of the little touches, like when you splashed into the water, the water ACTUALLY splashed, and how the car went to the bottom but float to the surface and kinda bobbled there. Very nice, it's those smaller touches that make a game very complete.
As far as additions/improvements go:
- It would make it much more enjoyable if the speed at which vehicle accelerate and de-accelerate be greatly increased. It seems like it takes forever to break and forever to get going.
- While I feel the control system for "person" mode is adequate and works fine, I honestly feel that a more GTA3-ish control scheme would make this game more accesible to more people, with a simple behind camera that swivels as the model swivels, I think it would make it much more enjoyable, you could still use you original targeting system, except maybe tie the targeting the right mouse button instead of control and firing to the left mouse button. I think that would be extremely good.
- While I didn't run into the bug while switching between editor and game mode, it would be great to have a restart button, or just an automatic restart that does so after however many seconds. I have no improvements for the editor at all, I think it's very well done and simple to use.
- Also as another final touch, maybe think about adding loading bars to the map loading and the game loading, as even on my P4 computer it took quite awhile to load, and people may want to know what's going. It just makes it look more pro.
- [edit] Whoops, just thought of some more things, the pistol should fire faster, you should be able to target cars as well, and when the police (or other vehicles for that matter) hit you, it should knock you down, play some visible animation. I'm only saying all these things because I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH! [/end rant]
Other than that, I think it's an awesome little game and I envy your physics programming skills greatly. I'm taking college physics this year as I'm a senior and maybe that will give me some insight on all of it.
