Hello all. We (TeamTOPIA ) are reaching the point where we will be looking for one or two talented web people to design our site. We dont have ready the details or the media yet but I am posting this now as a feeler so that any of you that may be interested can speak up and ake yourselves known. Aside from general web design and layout there will be a whole registration process that needs to be built into the site and maintained so we will be on the lookout for people that have skillz beyond just html (ASP,PHP,etc) although you will help decide the best route technology-wise. We have the hosting/server to post the live production site, but it would be helpful if you came to the party with an external test server that anyone on the them can use to view the site as it would appear in the wild.

Think you got what it takes, post here. This may turn into an official team position rather than a "contributor" credit so speak up if ye be interested!

I believe Mnemonix will be coordinating this aspect of the project when he gets back in a couple of days - so for now, no heavy duty questions about the details Just trying to get some ideas of who and what is available

Many Thanks,
TeamTOPIA

Heh, I'm availiable, I'm not that good, but I can design websites, but I do indeed like to use tables... and I don't like frames very much...

I know a tad of PHP, I've learned how to make a basic User Registration/login system that I currently have running on one of my newest creations, which shows all I know of. It's a shame my current host's servers are a bit broeken... so no MySQL works, which is what I added for fun for the News & Updates area

So I can show you my work when my host fixes itself, until then, I'm availiable, but not proffesional.

And I expect a pay of $100 a week to keep the website running on your server.... (j/k )

EDIT: Here is a show of my site while it's working:
Here

It is a cat website, you talk 'bout cats on the forums, and you can add pictures of your cats to our database to be displayed in the cats section, after they've been approved by an admin (me) etc, etc...

This website is cooly in my eyes, becuase it's my best.... I'm nothin special....

Maybe I need to elaborate since others are.

I really an very good at PHP / MySQL, plus I am really quite good at web design, especially with semantic layouts. I'm not some 12 year old kid with a copy of Frontpage

By the way, the website I posted, was completly coded my mua (me)

some is HTML, and some is, but I'm no expert, maybe you want David T, he seems more advanced in PHP/MySQL, on a count that I just know how to do what'd on muh site.

thanks for the replies so far. yeah, we are hoping to attract someone with demonstrated web skills, and interest in this project for the community.

Also, the site wont be huge - we can get off the ground with a homepage and the registration page, really - the reggy being most important at this point. The only other things I foresee being up there are things like news/scheduled maintenance notices/update notices, and the download links for the client/client updates etc.

lol

I've just finished building a php / mysql report management system for a school. It can track pupils, teachers can write reports from home and exports to MS Word

I'd say look at my web site but at the moment it's running a simple template I got off the net - when I get the write a proper one in CSS (hopefully soon) I'll upload it. It's all running a custom CMS for me so changing design is a snap.

I have written my own forum too

look at him gloat i know why it is, its cos you dont have a one hour bus journey!

more detail:
ive been using HTML for 4ish years but never made anything good until about 3 months ago (again ) and i started learning PHP about 2 months ago, i am reletively sufficient in it and i am coding a forum (for experience) and my own website (1 and 2 and forum) using a combination of HTML, CSS and PHP (like David T with CMS on site 1). um.....i cant think of anything else

are you only taking a maximum of 2 or is that ideal or will you be taking more people on?

well if one or two people wanna get together and work on it thats fine, but thats up to you guys - I dont think we have any limitations one way or the other as long as the site gets done according to what the team specifies. Also, we are not trying stir up some "competition" thing either. Just looking for some people to post their interest and maybe some sample links and we can go from there.

cheers

yes i understand that, but it is the traditional way to present what you can do (and not reveal what you cant ) and natural competion can bring out the best in people (or the worst lol)

Oh, I think we all know you are.

Oh yeah, I know PHP too, just look at the Forum Banner Minicompo:
http://ep.designex.net/Misc/ApolloAd/

But obviously I have absolutely no time at all to make a website lol.

I know nothing about any of this but I'd like to help by making cups of coffee for the team and giving people lemon curd sandwiches from time to time.

I'm a 14 year old with a copy of Frontpage , but I just use that for specific things, like when I get lazy and I don't want to type out all the HTML for something.
