hmmmm, i cant think of any, um i think it was a guitar solo, the bit in the BBC live Led Zepplin albulm thing where the guitarist came in a bar late, that made me laugh, and he's still good

Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall". I haven't met a guitar player that doesn't know that solo.
However my absolute favourite one is from Jethro Tull's "Farm on the Freeway".

Hmm the hardest solo I know is probably the solos in Carry on Wayward Son by kansas. I can play most of the Stairway to Heaven solo and maybe the first 10 seconds of the Freebird solo

That's a track. The album is called "Crest of a Knave". Although the rest of the album isn't too great. But I like that song and the guitar solo even more because it goes very well with the mood of the track.

rock would be the guitar section in "Hotel California", I have to resort to air guitar every time
classical would be "cavetina" (think "the man with no name..shootout") ,spanish guitar can be so wicked

Mentor.

PS also liked the guitar section from "runaway"

fade to black is great, but i think im gonna have to go with comfortably numb. I don't believe I need to state artist's name for that one.

Well, I havent got one particular favourite solo, but my favourite solos are..

- Seek and Destroy(Metallica)
- all of the solos in Hangar 18(Megadeth)
- Tornado Of Souls(Megadeth)
- Jump(Van Halen)
- Beat It(Michael Jackson (Eddie Van Halen performing the solo ))

Most of the music I listen to isn't guitar heavy, so not many guitar solos, but I'd have to say either Growing on Me by the Darkness or Sun Goes Cold by Sugarplastic

Jump - Van Halen - That intro kicks ass Eddy is a great guitarist.

Kashmir - Led Zeppelin - That would have to be my favorite Led Zeppelin song, and that opening is perfect. Jimmy Page is a God.

South of Heavan - Slayer - That intro is haunting, I sometimes find myself humming to it. Ariya's finest (isn't that the vocalist/guitarist?)

Dream Warriors - Dokken - Those first 19 seconds, classic. The one from 19 to 38 is great to. I think this was when George Lynch was their guitarist.

Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen - That one in the middle of it is cool. I can't think of Queen's guitarist. Wasn't it Brian May?

Seek and Destroy - Metallica - The opening f*ckin' rocksm/. This is one of Kirk's best. This, and probably For Whom The Bell Tolls.

Orchid - Black Sabbath - This is the intro to Lord of this World. Tony Iommi's finest

Paint it Black - Rolling Stones - That short opening is memorable.

There are probably tons I have missed. That song from Tribute had a great guitar solo in the middle of it...

Guns 'N Roses, when Slash did that Godfather theme tune for like 10 minutes, then there was a drum solo of it. Top stuff. Think that was on the Stockholm Illusion bootleg.

Oh, and anything by Yngwie Malmsteen. If you have never heard his stuff, or have never heard of him, then you don't know what you are talking about when it comes to guitar solos.

eagles - hotel california - the massive finger stretching solo at the end

Eric Clapton's White Room as recorded from one of his Albert Hall concerts in the early 90s from BBC Radio 1 onto a lovely tape and since copied across using sound cleaning software onto a CD which now holds pride of place in my music collection here.

Ok, I realise thats incredibly precise but I feel this question is important and deserves a considered answer.

I prefer my guitar solos on real guitars. So, just about anything by Edgar Cruz. (http://www.edgarcruz.com/) I'm also keen on spanish/gipsy/flamenco guitar so a tip of the hat to the Gipsy Kings

Totally agree those are EXCELLENT, not my favourates though. If I had to pick two (which is mean disrespectful and a HORRIBLE decision) I'd have:

Nick Drake - Hanging on a Star (Anything of his is brilliant really, but I chose this for the intense finger picking. POSSIBLY My favourate guitarist of all time.)

Jimmi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower (Simply because it's the pinacle of the career of the most inovative guitarist of all time)
