ok, we got the guitar solo thread going. This one is about what you think was the best rock/metal/grunge album of the 90's. If I said best of all time, it'd just be to hard. So I narrowed it to a more specific time frame.
So here's my favorite:

Alice in Chains - Jar of Flies.

I loved that acoustic grunge stuff.

Thats annoying. Misses my favourite by a few years.....

Hmmm. Difficult for the 90's though.... erm... Nevermind by Nirvana comes to mind, Vision thing by The sisters of mercy I think just makes it in to the decade I believe. Too many really. Chuck in the couple of GNR albums and I'm stuffed.... oooh, and of course the Metallica album that's never left my various car stereos since 1997 (I didn't own a car before this).

Damn you and your single 90's album question.... Metallica/Metallica it will have to be then on balance....

Don't have one, I generally only like a few to half of the songs on an album, never heard one where I liked all of them. But Tim McGraw's new release is phenomonal-- pure quality. I also like what Big & Rich are doing to country music; I don't like a lot of the songs on their album, but some of them are great, and I've gotta give them credit for serious innovation.

Yep, "Vision Thing", their last studio album, was released in 1990.

This is a hard question but I'd have to say "The Singles Collect" by Skinny Puppy. Even though it's a compilation it's amazing, a must buy. Almost anything by Rammstein or Korn is also high on the list as is "Clear Hearts Grey Flowers" by Jack Off Jill.

i liked nirvana, they were definately an influence during the grunge era, but i don't think their albums were very technical. I mean, guitar players usually learn their songs first for a reason. its like playing smoke on the water.

Van, good choice. Probably the only pearl jam cd that has all good songs. the others, which i have most of, got some rather....interesting songs on them.

Yeah, Ten rocked, there's always a couple of dodgy songs on their albums. Funny though - I recently got 'Lost Dogs' (which is damn good BTW), and heard this song called 'Hold On', and it's one of the best songs PJ have done since Ten - they said it almost made the Vitalogy album!. Personally I think there was plenty space on Vitalogy for it (I mean WTF Eddie, heyfoxymophandlemomma is no name for a song!).

I'd have to say Rearview Mirror is my all-time fave song though.

I had a lot of grungey stuff in the 90's in fact it's about all I listened to, apart from the occasional rap album, Ice-T's OG knocked me socks off . I like Soundgarden too, gotta buy Superunknown for a third time! - CD's just don't last very long in my house.
