I am a Canadian, now a US Permanent Resident. I left Winnipeg (a.k.a. Winterpeg), because I did not like the job situation there, and more importantly, my wife lives in California. I graduated as a Computer Analyst/Programmer from Red River College, and found that myself and many of my classmates could not find decent jobs at all. Simply pathetic... Most of my life, I have been trying to leave Winnipeg because I absolutely hated it there. There are much nicer cities in Canada like Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
Been all over Canada, and I like those three cities.
I decided enough was enough, and I moved to the US to be with my wife. Since leaving Canada, I changed the direction of my life completely. Now, I am studying to become a Mathematics (5-12) teacher - a much more rewarding career choice I think.
Do I regret leaving Canada? Not really... I was there in Winnipeg during April to visit family and friends, and I wanted to get out of there after two weeks. Nothing has changed... Winnipeg will still be boring old Winnipeg. The weather was nice while I was there, but after I left it became colder for most of the summer. I would consider moving to Alberta if I was offered a teaching position there and so would my wife, but that would be the only place I would consider in a move back to Canada. Otherwise, it is Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2 years.
That is where we have decided to move when I am ready for my demonstration teaching phase.
It gets hot in Winnipeg for one day a year... lol When you want to go camping and fishing on the weekend, it rains. Blah!
