Are there any programs that take a bunch of screenshots while the game is playing and the screenshots can be assembled in another program like Stillmotion or Bink?
There was a program in the codebase that I tried but it only wrote one screen and then stoppped. I tried making one myself and ran into a similar problem. Help.

No need for any of that...
You can download the demo version of fraps (www.fraps.com), but keep in mind the demo limits the final video dimensions and puts a fraps watermark up top.

There's more choices than fraps, as I discovered when I made this thread

There are a number of ways to do it... however i'd suggest sitting down with someone who knows about video editing, music placement and such.

Having someone who knows what they're doing sort out your video will do your game far more justice than a 5minutes hack'n'slash of what you think will be wanted.

Work with them to script events that perhaps might never happen in the game but will look good showing off the engine.

Also if you take a look at other games like, those which Blizzard make... they very rarely show game footage for a trailer but make a Cinematic style teaser.

Raven does have a point, but if your game is so fantasically cool looking that in-game footage does the job, then go for it. Dawn of War is a good example where game images are more gee-whiz to me than CG cinematics.

I'll second the idea of scripted camera control. It can give you neat camera angles that, while not practical for actual game play, would make for a good show.

Ok then screenshots it is! I could buy a 354$ video card that can capture video, or I could take screenshots from the game and save money since the game isnt commercial. So thanks guys, "i can see clearly, now the rain is gone........."

I'd save the money and add a little logic that syncs, does a get image, saves the frame, and repeats. Ideally using a script controlled camera and perhaps mouse and keyboard control.

Sod that, buy yourself a TV Out card... infact most cards nowadays have an S-Video Out.
What you do is setup your VCR and record some sessions to VHS/DVD/BluRay (which ever you have)

Then using a TV Tuner Import the Video and edit it up.
It saves getting an expensive card as TV Out cards are around $40 (thats if you don't just need an S-Video Lead) and a TV Tuner is around $60 for a decent one.

if you have 2 PCs and DVI on your Video Cards, there is software you can get which will take video input from that socket... as you can use your SVGA at the same time, this is a perfect solution for copying video in real-time.

Problem isn't actually Video Card speed, but actually Processor Speed when capturing video.
Also you'll want a nice fast HDD.
