I mean a bow that shoots arrows just so you know. Really what I want to know is how do I make the string, I have the actual bow, but how do I make a string that causes the sling?

Got anime?I do.

You could use a very thin cylinder. If you're going to use it for a game though, I'd suggest you'd make a plain and texture it so that it looks like a string, and position it so that its in the right position. The advantage of this is if you made a simple mesh using this way you could also easily change the shape of the string for shooting the arrow itself for instance.

Make a cylinder(like Kentaree said)
Bone the cylinder(using about 5 bones)
Animate the cylinder by moving the central bone outward
