There's nothing wrong with it. He lookes like a superhero. Also if this is one of your early projects, you shouldn't quit if it's not pretty. Don't you see children when they first start math? 1+1=2...

Also, try making his shirt a solid color, and try variations until you find something you like. Keep trying.

That's a better model than I've ever done Mustra. And I've been around for quite a while. Keep at it and you'll suceed eventually.

Mustrao - there's a lot of people out there who'd love to be able to make models like that - don't be so down on yourself.

If I had any advice, it would be to keep practising and never make a character model without concept art - it's the best way to get good proportions. Look for some multi-view character artwork online and use it as a template for your own stuff (even faintly printing it out and drawing over it).

As VanB says, character sheets help to keep you focused and maintain proportion. If you're like me, then you can't draw. And if that's the case, try here:

http://www.anime-model-sheets.com/index.php?s=320&cat=2

Save the image and use it as a background in your modelling program. Yes it's copyright'd blah blah blah but I'd say that it falls under "fair use" and your using it for educational/research purposes

Wow, that link is a keeper! Almost 900 reference images to pick and choose from in just that one section. Thanks.

BTW, one alternate to reference images is to download a high resolution human model and then use that as a structure to build your low resolution game model.

If you want, I can always fire up Creature Creator and make you a couple generic DXF meshes that you could import for manequins. Creature Creator Pro is to humanoids as DoGA CGA is to mecha. It it is within your budget, it's a handy tool for creating basic meshes and working up or down from there.

Your texturing and corridor piece you made for the project were fantastic, professional quality (seriously). I cannot do humans to save my life, but I'm fair with non-organic objects. You shouldn't give up, keep at it and keep practicing. I don't ever like to say that I quit anything (unless it's bad for you ), maybe I'll lose interest in it for a while, but I always seem to come back to it in the end.

Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous!

It's not too bad! You're on the right way! Just work on it on and on. Search for tutorials on the web and shorter you will be able to model more than correctly. (try for example: [href]www.psionic3d.co.uk/lowtuts.html [/href])

@Mustra Joao
All art starts out pretty poor until its refined, what if Michael Angelo when he was staring at a rectangular lump of marble before he
turned it into his "David" just knocked a couple of lumps off it and
then said what you said no one would have heard of him.

Come to think of it he might have done
Just keep on trying mate it'll happen.

just post a good model and say you are giving up...then just sit back and let the comments roll in

Nothing wrong with that model at all Mustra. It could be an evil robot guy in a game easily. It certainly looks pretty evil and somewhat robotic.

Never quit. Never give up. Soldier on!

in my opinion you should stick with the one your at and edit him. like his textures on his face and his body. the lower part of the body looks fine. that way you will understand more. edit his textures that way it looks better. the model looks good enough, but the texture need work. so far work on the textures. you can make a new one or you can fix this one and work at it.

Geez...I should have posted Firewall and said that I was giving up and was the worst programmer ever and couldn't do special effects or anything...

How much time did you spend on that model? Just keep working on it, it will get easier and easier. It will look better and better as you go.

Good Luck

DOnt quit my friend!!! we're all in this together! gamer to gamer, artist to artist... we are in this gaming world together! keep on trying! (sorry for the wimpy cliche language). Here's a more rugged version:
only wimpy crybabies quit - studs only quit chillin and get to work. for game's sake don't be a wimp - be a stud!

I was EXACTLY like you at the beginning (heck! i am now too!). Somewhere here's a pic of my very first human male model - pretty DAMN crappy! (okay you can stop laughing and making fun...) there's the 2nd and 3rd - still meant for the toilet seat (crap) but you can see that things get better with time. so give it some (time) dude! (okay PLEASE stop laughing now!)

But now take a look at these barrels I just created (no their not badname's on 3D chat "badname's free models" - they just look like them). Give me some feedback too will you?

BUt there's another thing - if you are very talented in some other gaming aspect (like programming) , i'd advise - go do that and get grphics with teams...

For when they said I couldn't, I did...
