This is simply an alternative editor for the DarkBASIC Pro default editor. This is not a game, but a tool to enhance the coding enviroment.

ARRAGH!!! I have tried three different credit cards but the ¨Share-It¨ system keeps declining them. I wonder if it is because I am using american credit cards AND my IP shows me in Honduras.... I will email Rob K and see if there are alternatives to payment since Share-It cannot seem to process me.

As for now, I will just try and use the 20 min demo.

Yes, I have two published games. I know quite a few languages (been doing this crap for near 20 years now) and as for the game request, I actually have 2 other ¨games¨ on the side. My partner lives in another city about 80 miles away so it is hard for us to get together to work, so we have a server in which we store our code, media, etc at. We normaly use different engines (WildTangent, Orge and Torque) but I seem to have a liking for DBP for it reminds me of when I was very young ( like twelve) and my partener is not really insterested in DBP because it is not OOP. Since I also want to stick with DBP, I liked the idea of being able to share code, media, etc becasue I know EXCATLY what type of pain in the a$$ it is not to be working in the same office with people and 2+ developers working on the same project can cause extreme heahaches.

I am finishing up a expansion pack for Devil´s Whiskey as well as another game that I am not allowed to mention, as well as creating a accounting package for the entire country of Honduras, so I am normally very busy, but the best way to learn something is to use it everyday and therefore since you spoke in complete sentences and that you seem to have a ¨game plan¨ on what you wanted to do insted of the ¨i want 2 make mmorpg, 100 zones, etc¨ I thought your project would be a good one for me to get accomplished.

Here in Honduras, I don´t have access to the ¨internet¨ all the time. In the hotel there is a computer downstaris in the lobby in which I respond, but if someone else is using it, it is hard to get a message out or check the forums.

So, I hope this answers your questions of why I choose to work on this project.

Time to order some Room Service!

I have changed my signature so that it is a gif animation that will change to 1 of 3 slides every 7 seconds. The first one will be just the basic advertisement, the second will be some general news for the forums, and the second slide will be for the team members, and when I need you guys to look at something I will update the file to include your names. Keep an eye on the dates, as i may not edit the sig for quite awhile after I upload it.

Sorry for the problems Cellbloc. The easiest alternative is to use PayPal (send to [email protected]) and send me an email when you're done. I'll try and get you up and running asap.

Thanks Rob. It has been an utter nightmare dealing with ShareIt. I just tried a FOURTH CARD and was rejected. Going to call Customer Service tomorrow and find out what the heck are they using my card information for.

The hell with them. I´m going to PayPal you now. I will email you in a moment.

And with my sig, I will only update it if one of team members or I have something new to let the forums know about.

New Icon for teh program. After working on the new sig I designed a pretty good icon for the program, this icon will appear in the upper-left hand corner of a window and the executable icon. If someone could make one better please fell free to post it.

The icon is attached to the post and is 2-3kb in size.

Once you get the DBN program to work tell me what you think of the program. And tell me if you have any questions on how to use the BlueGUI, and I'll try to help.

This has happened before with me, try reloading the original program. I have found that occasionally the editor will choose something to make an error about and it isn't even showing the line in which the error has occured. So try looking through your own program until you find the spelling error, or code that is wrong, and if you can't you half to start from where the code does work. At all times i have 5 backup copies from different times so that I can go back to not long ago so not to much of my code is lost.

It seems like everyone here has school except for Cellbloc Studios (unless he has college, but after 20 years of coding I don't think so).

That is good to know, you wouldn't've been any help to the team dead. So all I ask is if you are working on the program or not working on the program just post here occasionally so I can still tell that you are on the team.

And so everyone knows what I am doing. I am doing the areas of the program that deal with the code library, and the encryption system.

At the moment I have just been working on this during my spare time, but lately I have been having lots of homework, today this is what I need to do.

A worksheet on the Odyssey section about the Witch Circe.
A study guide for my science test next week - solar system
A study guide for my social sudies text next week - South Asia
Graphing in Algebra 1

And that is all for one day, note this is homework and not what I get done in class. So I hope you understand why I haven't been doing to much on the program. And as I have stated before the code that was for the last update is all the code that I have at the moment.

Do you like BlueGUI v2? And have you tried DarkBASIC Network yet?, now that you have BlueGUI v2. And I finally finished (what I could) of my homework after about 3-4 hours of torture. But most of it was typing, it was looking up the information that made the time seem endless.

And I just posted about my homework to express how school is affecting the programming of this project (for me any ways). I probably will not post about homework on here for quite awhile, but still keep that in mind if it seems like I haven't been doing much lately.

Last night I figured out a way to make an Validation system for DarkBASIC Network. Right now I plan on having a CD or hard drive serial name read and encrypted to a file, and the DBN program will validate the program by reading the file and if the specified drive serial is not present the program will not run. I will not include this code in any update until the final release, so that I do not get people agrivated at me because once the program has been validated the program will need to have the drive serial present or else the program will not run.

Summary,
With the work that I am doing, I am making so the DBN program is registered to one drive serial and if the serial is not present the file will not run.

1tg46

I use the Enhancement Pack to read the serial of the hard drive myself for Validation system.

That is basically what I was planning on doing and make DBN read a certain file that was created with a program that I am calling "Encrypt to CD" program. This program will read the serial for a CD and find the numerical value of the serial and use that code to encrypt the file and then have DBN decrypt the file and see if the drive is present and if not the program will not run.

And I have finally been able to open my Visual Studio .NET 2003 academic, so when I get back to my house at the end of this weekend I will activate it and have fun. I have also purchased a book to help me with VS.NET2003AE and it is called "Same:Teach Yourself: Visual Studio .NET 2003 in 21 days. It better be a good book since it cost me $40 (not including the 10% discount).

I have about 300 lines of the encrypt to CD program done, and right now I am debugging both the "encrypt to CD" and "Encryption" program so that they can work together.

That's okay, right now I have Visual Studio installed and ready to go, while taking a big performance hit becuase of it. I have only 14 gig left out of 40 gig, and I can tell that I'll need more space. After a few weeks when the sales begins I'm going to try to buy another 100+ gig hard drive.

Right now I am experiencing with Visual BASIC.NET.

Cool Later today i'll try (if I have enough time) to upload my solution file for my version of DarkBASIC Network for Visual Basic.NET(This is the language that me and 1tg46 are learning at the moment, their may other versions in other languages). We are still working DarkBASIC version of the editor, but at the moment that is presently on hold.

Working with 1tg46 on DarkBASIC Network.
Coming along great.

How about this:
Me and Thanatos will work on a Visual BASIC.NET version of DBN
Powersoft will work on a C++.NET version of DBN
Cellbloc Studios and Powersoft and Thanatos and me will work on a DarkBASIC version. (With enhancements from the .NET languages (dll’s)).

All the programs will be open source and people can use any of them as they want. This will also allow a comparison of how the different languages interact and how they work. And the credits will have all the names of the team members.

Does this sound like a logical idea?
Please Say Yes or No and maybe why you think so. Forum members and team members can post for this, because this is to also help newbies learn the different lanuages if they want.

Regards,
1tg46

With all this news I'll be making another sig, is their any news that you want me to include?

Right now:
C++.NET version and Visual BASIC .NET version and DarkBASIC version.

And if anyone has a better graphic for the sig, post it and I'll change it?

@Powersoft
do you know how we can call dll's in VIsual Studio .NET?

uh... slight change of plan.

I ave semi-abondanded the C++ version and have restarted with a C# one. the reasons behind this varies:
o i want, or rather Mike, wants dockable windows
o stuff on http://www.thecodeproject.com is in C# so i can us it

and re: open sourceness. im not keen on realising the WHOLE source but will realease little/large bits if asked, sorry but this way it stays more personal. . . .

if anyone here wants to pick up on the C++ version let me know

Perfectly okay. So the editor that you are working on right now will be basically your own. So are you going to use a new name for the program rather than DarkBASIC Network?

I wouldn't mind looking at the code, to see how you are doing this so far.

VB.NET update

Here is the Visual BASIC.NET version that I have been working on. I am still working with the DarkBASIC version but right now I am trying to get both versions running in the same pace. This program requires .NET framework for it to work. I this is the whole solution file since I don't think I need to hide any information like I had too with the DBP version because of the BlueGUIv2 plugin.

I am still working on Dark Basic Network, and I will start using this thread some more since I am now getting a hang on Visaul Basic.NET. Later on today I will post a new scrennie of the program.

Right now I am working on still the graphical user interface. And I am also working on the aspects of tpc advanced dll support in the editor, like in BlueIDE. and the DBN VB.NET version of the program will be very similar to BlueIDE, but I am hoping to add more functuality that BlueIDE.

Now:
What I have:
1) I do have pretty much the dialogs for the program completed, just the user interface and not so much the code for the forms
2) I have a list of the dll's in a listbox like how BlueIDE has it.
3) I have almost all the information as in the DarkBasic version except for the tabs

What I am having problems with:
1) Tabs. I am having trouble making a function in a different class then the tabs were created in, so I am having trouble with the interaction of different classes.
2) I am having trouble with the codesense control, I get an error if I try to put it on a form.
3) I am having trouble trying to figure out how to add images to menu items. So if someone could help me out with that, it would be much appreciative.

All this post is dealing with is the Visual Basic .NET version of Dark Basic Network IDE, and not of the Dark Basic Professional version.

Update more later,
1tg46

[edited]

And as always we still need graphics, we need graphics that will distinguish the different menu items. Thanks
