hey all,

i had some free time so i made a model of a space ship that i had originally designed on paper, this most likely will be in some upsoming 2d side-scrolling shooter so polycount wasnt a barrier,
it weighs in at 4191 polys, untextured ,will be textured eventually.

This thing has a rotatable turret at the front, 2 lasers at each wingtip, 4 bombs on the undercarridge(not visible in pic), 8 external missiles, 4 engines for vtol and a radar dish at top.

c&c please.

worst piece of garbage I have ever seen.

Actually, I think I found something like that in the toilet this morning, had to reach for it though.

I like the attention to detail, but as a member of the hard sci-fi 3D list I have my nit picks about the design of the vehicle, the placement of sensors and weapons, the shape of the bell housing etc. But feel free to ignore those as the rantings of a mad scientist wannbe.

ditto. Just my opinion, but it doesn't look... aerodynamic or whatnot. But still, its very nice. I couldn't do something like that if i tried

@PoHa!84 , no need to be airodynamic if it goes in space :p, and the vtol is for when it lands on planets so it doent need to go very fast

@dark coder, yes, i know, what i'm talking about is stream-lined; futuristic looking. But obviously not what you were going for. I was merely stating that I agreed with Zircher about the design.

In any case, I think it looks great.

If I can make some suggestions in the name of constructiveness...

Swap the positions of the radar dish and antenna. Move two of the missile pylons to the top of the wing so you have two up and two down. After all you won't have gravity so the impulse cartridges that would eject/launch the missiles will suffice. Also, this allows the munnition to clear the hull better and avoid scorching the ship. Special effects wise, it looks cool to see the missile move away from the launcher and then light up the engines.

A space ship would probably have manuvering jets or ports so it could turn in any direction. I recently saw some images from a VASMR (Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket) test run. It burns with a very cool looking violet flame.

as for your last comment, the vessel has 4 small engines/thrusters thich are rotatable so that would cover your turning needs.

and i saw your sig, woo i like sg1, i think ill make the x303 now :p

This is a great model Dark Coder.

Would you be interested in a possible commission (i.e. modelling for money) in about 3 months or so time? If so, please drop me an email and we can discuss.

Nice model, however, I think it could use some longer wings, as it looks kind of like a submarine right now.
