Hey all,
I'm wondering if any of you can help me with a little problem i'm having getting started on a game intro. I'm basically wondering how i could make a cutscene and whether or not i need to do it with an AVI file or just use the in-game functions with DB to hardcode it into my game. If i do need to use an AVI then are there any free tools i can use to import my .x animation files and set them up in a scene with effects and a world and everthing? Thanks so much.

For the latter, you might want to give Blender a try. Since you already have your .X models, I'd try for the in-game cut scene first.

I created a cut scene for Firewall (althought it is quite pathetic) that shows at the beginning. I just made the game go to the main loop, but not use any computer AI. Everything was setup before hand, and the game controlled the camera by spinning it around objects and then displayed text for the explanations of the game stuff. My cutscene is actually just a demo of the game with cool camera work. You would probably want yours to be much more, like with cool special effects and stuff, so I don't know if you would want DB to do it. Do you want it to look like the game, or more realistic?

Really what i'm trying to accomplish is not going off of a manipulation of the camera, although that would be a good idea to use while doing in game cutscenes. In c++ you would just use DirectShow to do this for you, but i'll have a look at Blender, thanks you guys.
