I am going to reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows ME ( , yes I know). However I was wondering if the CD that I got will allow it to install with just a boot CD in.

The CD is white at the top with the words: OPERATING SYSTEM
Underneath that it says: For the Reinstallation of Windows Me
Then on the left: Only use this CD to reinstall Microsoft Windows on a Dell computer system. This CD is not for reinstallation for application programs or drivers.

Is this the one that I need? (on a side note, isn't "application programs" redundtant?)

it should work as a boot cd, make a boot floppy if you're concerned.

Also, if your computer is not the one that came with that cd, then don't format, because the dell cd won't work unless it's the same model of your computer.

Well, it is the one that came with my computer, and I have a boot floppy, but will this CD install with no operating system? (except a boot floppy)

If you computer supports booting from a cd then all you need is the cd. Just set it in the bios to boot from cd.

You should have another cd with drivers on. If you can't find it download the drivers from the dell site first or at least copy the device names from the device manager.

Also I have never come accross a dell cd that would refuse to install on another computer which can be quite usefull as quite a lot of computers are sold without an install disk.
