*SPOILER WARNING*
Quote: "Super ego got his ass kicked by Batman"
Sort of. It was based in an alternative future where Batman comes out of retirement (at 60+ age). Friend of mine lent me the graphic novel. Superman is basically Clark Kent and works for the CIA/FBI, with Lois in a retirement home (Clark is *exactly* the same). Essentially all superheroes were made illegal by the government, they knew who Superman was, and forced him to uphold the law etc etc. So anyhows, Batman coming out of retirement causes the government to get annoyed so they send Clark in. First he gives Batman a warning, then comes back fully kitted up in Superman form. But Batman is ready with a kick-ar*e exoskeleton suit effort. He has a go, but is still no match for Superman. Then Batman presses a button on his suit or somesuch, and Kryptonite knuckledusters appear on his fists! Double tops. So Batman then goes and kicks 5 shades of sh*te out of Superman for a bit. Then, with Superman lying bleeding and pretty much defeated, Batman goes for the final mortal blow. Unfortuantly he has a heart attack doing this and dies. Next thing you know is Alfred (still going) self destructs the house (with him in it I think), and you see the funeral with Clark Kent standing by the side with the other mourners. Then Clark hears a slight thumping noise, like really low. He stops for a sec, but then continues off. Turns out is Batman's heart; he isn't really dead, just pretending, and he goes on to form a new Batman group with young people (he doesn't do nout but stay at home). Theres some other stuff in the middle, but thats the jist of it. He could have told Alfred his plans though...
Cheers
I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing
