I am trying to create a bunch of free low poly plants and started with a simple palm tree.
Its 688 polys un-optimized. With the branches painted instead of modeled it came down to 304 polys.

The question is how exactly do i export it using the nuclear glory plugin for lightwave. The object has a UV map for the leaves with one 256x256 image map and one 256x256 alpha map. The tree trunk has a 256x256 image map. After exporting the object and saving the textures into the same folder i loaded the images and .x object into darkbasic and all i got was a gray palm tree. Can anyone help me out? thanks

Wow! I really like those palm trees . I think your better off using a .png to create the transparent parts. Also you might want to contact NG support. They'll probably give u better answer.

darkbasic or darkbasic pro doenst allow multiple uv's , i found that the hard way, export it like .x with the uvs collapsed, it should work fine.

I will try again using transparent .png files instead of an image map & alpha map for the leaves.

I only used one UV map for the leaves, the trunk is just your standard seamless bark texture cubic wrapped.
Does dark basic allow you to use a UV map on only part of the model?
Has anyone had any luck with exporting lightwave objects to .x using a UV map for only part of the model? Do you have to seperate the object into layers or limbs?

I know there are a lot of questions there but any help is apprectiated

DB needs to split the model, but that does'nt mean it can't do it internally. Really, if you've textured the leaves and bark seperately and they're assigned to their textures, you should be jamming.

It might be a good idea to break the mesh apart, at least that way you can texture with DBPro using the limbs if you have to. Maybe making a few different textures then a little DBPro setup code would be more convenient - like an interactive plant browser that lets you select your seamless bark texture and leaf textures. Just thinking that a lot of this stuff will be re-usable and a little browser would be very nice. Maybe have it copy your media to a specified directory and auto-generate the setup code.

Lol, i was just about to say what supremacy project said, DB doesnt support multitextured objects, but I realized that my tree[d] tree had a bark texture and a leaf texture, and it worked

Yes it does o_O I use multitextured objects a bit...Just export the object with all textures applied and then have the model and textures in the same directory, model loads for me with all 3 Textures applied to it.

yeah some of my models have several textures, just make sure when exporting that you select export with texture info etc. i use milkshape and it has some thing on there that says export with textures or some such.
