I'm making a FPRTS(First Person Real Time Strategy). I think you don't know what i'm talking about so i will tell what the game will be about. You are one man in the game, as in a First Person Shooter and you look from his eyes. You can shoot at enemies and get help from friends. So far no difference from a FPS. But in this game you have a base and in that base are builders, repairers, tank drivers, pilots and more. You are the boss and give orders to that people. To build a barrack for example. Than you can go to the barrack and build a soldier. Than you can command the soldier to go to the enemy. This makes the RTS-Genre more realistic. You have to be everywhere. Also when you want to see the radar, you have to go to the radar building. The game is in the modern age, arround 2010. I have made my own object editor to create the buildings and tanks, but I need a program to create the soldiers and other humans. What program should I use, and what do you think of making this kind of game.

I think it sounds like a lot of current games out there right now (barracks and stuff) but anyways. This would be hard to code. Good luck. For 3D, I suggest the 20 dollar 3D power tool Milkshape (www.milkshape3d.com). Dont let people convince you other wise, except for BUYING 3D Studio Max, Lightwave, Maya or Rhino. All high class (expensive) modellers. For 2d I suggest Paint Shop Pro (dunno where) or Photoshop (prefered) www.adobe.com

Why is milkshape so inexpensive(i hope this is the right word). Isn't it as good as other programs?
And I know it will be hard to code, I don't know if I can, but I've Darkbasic for a year now and I have many experience with QBasic(8 years) and Delphi(2 years) and I've also programmed in C++ and Visual basic. So I can code, but I don't know if I'm good enough for this, because I'm very bad at graphics and in a First Person game you need good graphics.

3D Studio Max is somewhere around the 10k range. If not more. Maya is 7k, and rhino is almost 20k. Unless the prices have changed. Hash Inc's Animation:Master, as good of quality as Maya, is only 300. [http://www.hash.com]. And of course if you get any of these you need a good Paint Editor for the textures, which I would recommend Adobe Photoshop and that is $609.
