Yep, you gotta expect those prices with TI calcs. I have a TI-83+ and a TI-89, so I've spent a lot of money on calcs alone.

But, I do think the price is worth it. Being able to program your own functions into it as well as standard programs, better games for download at ticalc, can program it in C++ (using a C++ to ASM converter), 3D Graphing, etc, etc. Good deal in my opinion.

Cheers,
Preston

Well, $83 bucks is enough for me but from what you're saying you can do with the TI 89 it definatly is worth it.

If you decide to make games remember when using a conditional statement (if statement) that you don't use a goto inside of the conditional statement. This causes a memory leak and makes your calculator go slow, untill it eventually crashes. It's one of the biggest problems I have with my game. I have only figured out two diffrent ways to solve it. Every time you do use a goto inside an if you increase a variable, and when that variable reaches a set amount like 20 it will go to a lbl that just has 20 end statements and then goes back to your program. Also you can have all the things that would be under the lbl that you want to go to inside the if statement (this method dosent work well when you dont always what to use only some of the commands but not all).

Like eveyone else said ticalc.org is the best place.

I first started programming on TI-83's , I had to learn to program them or else I would have failed all the tests . Anyway, I used to spend the whole math class programming them, and I made 3 complete games. I'll see if I can find them, there was a remake of zelda, tetris and quake (which was sort of 3d'ish).
