Game Design Theory / first person mouse cotnrolled sword fighting.

is it first person perspective?

Use the mouse for swinging/blocking

or the number pad. what ever direction you drag the mouse, is where the sword will swing to block, press the mouse button while moving and that is the direction it attacks from.

hmm, i dunno gil, cause the old school pirates sword fighting was more swashbuckling, which is way different to your dueling sabers style. For starters most of the swash buckling will be done with one hand and a more stabbing motion etc, whereas saber fighing is more about swinging etc. so for swashbuckling it would probably go down better as a 3rd person sword action, because controlling it by mouse if first person when you riposte and all that fancy crap would get a bit iffy.
