Looks like it was more popular than bandwidth allowed.

Maybe you were killing the box. You have a shed load of database access which doesn't show as bandwidth, but the host will see as processor usage.

You must not be one of those people.

Well, LOGD takes up a *lot* of power simply because you have to keep clicking to do anything, thus there's a lot of work the processor has to do.. although the other day the stats seemed to suggest it wasn't power hungry, it may at busy times consume too much to the point that other sites suffer.. This may not be the case, however, it could just be the site is down due to a missetting or fluke.. I don't know until I can talk to Lynx, and he should be on later, hopefully..

Actually that's false.. Lynx came on, apparently I overused my bandwidth .. in fact, I doubled my bandwidth in one 12 hour night...

Yesterday I was at 400 mb or so, today I'm at 1.1gb.

The site's back up now and we are looking into what had happened.

What happened here alarmed me quite a bit.

I've just gotten done going through all the files, and I found it odd jerico had "unable to access file" errors, when all the other people i'm hosting were fine.

Alas, his website generates tons of file bandwidth per second, exceeding his allotted bandwidth (phreaky). The fact being, his bandwidth more then doubled overnight, which my guess, resulted in a suspension of his account (very phreaky). I unbanned his account and removed his quota.

I'm not quite sure as to how his bandwidth managed to double overnight, but I will get to the bottom of this .

alright laggy, won't be able to set it up until after 6pm central time or so... But you all can keep playing as I'll transfer all of the database and game files

Thanks

Don't worry Lynx, I'm doing ya a favor^_^ And I'll keep the rest of my stuff on your server

for laggy!

[edit] arg phreaky you were right:/ Apparently there was a lack of communication here.. The game from what I've heard had about 500 db connections going, it brought the entire server down to it's knees.. If I had known what was going on I would not have let it come back up... I will enquire about this on the logd support forums and see what they suggest is the problem.. But as it stands now this game will *not* be going back up on a public server. This game is meant to bring good times to people, not ruin their websites.. What happened could have major implications upon Lynx, Eoin, and all those who had websites running the last few days on his server. So I apologize for my own misdoings and just wanted to say I they were not purposeful..

When I find out the cause of the major resource hog in the game and fix it, the game will be back up. I hope to get it back up in a few days on laggy's server, if he's still interested

I believe there's a bug in it somewhere which would lead it to be connecting to the sql database using 500+ connections concurrently. It ramped the server load up by 200%, and was consuming vast amounts of bandwidth.. I'm working with logd support to fix the problem, at which time I'll make it available again.

All information has been saved, including the database, so everyone's progress and all settings have been saved. All I need to do is find the error in the php and fix it. But until then the game will be down. I hope to get it going in a few days.

And besides, it'll give you some more time to finish your compo entries Kain and Ilya for example, who put the most time in, each far more than me and lady combined^_^

LMFAO...

well what I *think* I'll do.. since laggy sent me the details to get it running on his server, is upload the default installation and install the current database.. This will take off all of the cool mods I've installed, but should keep the game running without killing the server... and will keep your progress in tact.. And I can install the mods after I've confirmed they do indeed work without a problem

How's that sound?

I thought that it may have been something to do with the mods, because if it were a bug someone would of probably have fixed it by now [Yay, Opensource!] but I was guessing your mods used mySQL so .. hrmm yes Hope you get it sorted.

It's a prerelease, but I haven't come across a bug yet.. and it's soo much simpler to operate (admin wise) and a heck of a lot easier to add modules... so expect constant updates and new modules
