I have been trying to model a custom torus, stretch it out so it's oval in shape, then reduce all the spherical nature of it so it appears to be a flat oval ring (a cylindrical oval torus/donut for lack of better definition)

The only problem is that as you get closer to the far ends, the angle of the curve is such that the edges are wider than the rest of the 'ring.'

I want the same width all the way around. I also tried taking a cylinder, stretching it out to an oval shape, then making a smaller copy of the object and subtracting it (TrueSpace talk) from the larger object. Because the 'ovals' are different sizes there is always a decrease in width near the top/bottom and an increase in width on the sides.

I tried manually going in and changing all the angles so that the width is universal. But I know I lack the math skills to do this correctly. Is there a way to do this with a complex math formula? If not, can someone take a stab at the correct formula?

Thanks
