Well now I've made several games with DBC and DBP (or at least tried to) but I still can't figure this one thing out.
I see loads of beautiful games here in the showcase with high quality models, but when I make some models and load them it takes AGES!
Now I still don't know how come that when I load some crappy 500 polygon model it takes me 5 minutes to load and I see those beautiful models here and it only takes a few seconds to load them...
Anyone knows how come?

What was the file size in comparison? I made the mistake of trying to load lots of pics for my menu, and couldnt understand why it was so slow, but i forgot to optimise them, some were over 1mb! Not sure if this wil relate to your models but its some thing to consider anyway.

I'm makin' a cake...

Well I don't think so, it's just that my models are far from being as beautiful as the ones here but my loading takes longer, one option that I have found is that I had rather large textures to load but it's still slow

It sounds like you are using 3DS models, something DBP has never loaded quickly. If that is the case, try switching to .X or DBO format. There's a free DBO convertor mentioned in the program announcement board that you can search for.

And if you happen to have the old Dark Basic classic sitting around, there is an undocumented command, 3DS2X, that you can use to pre-convert your 3DS models to .X format. The blurb I read said that Dark Basic had to do this internally anyway, so you could save yourself some loading time by going ahead and doing it ahead of time.

I've found that to be true.

It's also saved my butt in cases where DBP just wouldn't load the 3DS model, period. I've got a collection of 24 human models in .3DS format that were delivered in a terribly small scale. DBP had trouble loading them, period. But Classic loaded them and then 3DS2X produced a .X file that Pro could read without problems. Why? I've got no idea.

Anyhoo, try what zircher said... get your models into .X format before loading them.
