Snakes And Ladders was my entry for the winter 2004 Dark basic programming competition. It's a remake of snake, featuring both a one player and two player mode. There's three levels and basically the objective is to collect the apples. On some computers the apples appear in the walls, while on others they don't. I'm currently trying to fix this, but you may find it works fine anyway. Please let me know what you think

Level 1, Single Player Mode

Level 2,Single Player Mode

Level 3, Two Player Mode

Very nice, looks very cramped though, I hope the snakes don't have claustrophobia

very slick, beautiful graphics! looks like fun, I hope you do well in the compo- I'm personally excited to try it out!

I wonder how many other "unknown" entries are lurking around with no WIP posts (like RoomWar last time)

Very clean, well organized looking game. Looks like you put some well spent time into it. The Graphics make a good presentation to the game, I'm sure you will do well with an entry like that. Good luck.

Seems like it might be fun.

The textures on level 2 could use some help though.

Thanks for the responses.
I've actually done quite a bit more work on it, including making some little apples to replace the red boxes you see in the screenshots above - I'll update my website in a minute and if I get the time, I'll change these too. I think the screenshots don't give a full impression of what the game's really like - For example, when your snake dies it explodes and the camera shakes and theres an explosion effect etc. which I can't really capture in a screenshot. Yeah level two's meant to be a hedgemaze, although I did box mapping on it when I came to texture it and some of the textures don't seem to line up properly. anyway too late to do anything about that now..
Going to ftp my game this evening.
