Check the headers.

I've been getting a lot of spam from PX (programmer extreme) with an 198kb file attatchment each email.

If the headers are the same, we can both report his ISP regarding him abusing us with his virus spam attatchements .

Thats a virus, it manipulates peoples email (from what I can tell) If someone is infected with the virus, it will go thru the computer and find email address's and spam from that computer with the virus, infecting others.

That virus was going around a while back, but instead it was telling people to delete a vital file on the computer

Its really not them sending the email (if this is the correct circumstance) it is actually a virus manipulating the persons email address

Which usually means that it is a mutual friend that has the bug...

Given that they're all kids, I'm sure they'll spread it around for a while before they get a clue.

I've now had 3 of these mails now with a .scr embedded in a .zip file as an attachment.

No fear of getting a virus as my mail app has no idea what a .scr is but its getting damn annoying.

The 1st mail came from somewhere in Sweden but I deleted it before looking fully at the headers. The last two just came through a German mail server mxng17.kundenserver.de

It looks like it is someone scanning the forums again as it is being sent to my deepblue address that I use nowhere else. Bah I hate this rubbish.

I got an e-mail with "Hello" in the subject from ra____@thegamecreators.com (part blanked out for random reason, just thought it'd be better that way.), containing nothing but a zip.
In it was a .scr file, which my virus scanner detects as some worm. Somebody needs to buy a scanner.

It's very easy to disguise an e-mail address, so even if it is from whatever@thegamecreators.com or whatever@programmersunited.com, it doesn't mean they're necessarily from that person. I'd advise you to get a mail client such as thunderbird which can filter out spam, these mails are all very similar, so should be easy to filter.

I know how easy it is to fake an e-mail address, I just didn't think PX would.
I once sent my brother an e-mail supposedly from "Barney@hollywood.com" with the theme song ("I love you, you love me...").

I have absolutely no doubt PX would do that if he knew how (which is doubtful). He's got a history of spamming and trolling and poorly organized attempts to send viruses to people who he dislikes .

"*.scr" are screensaver files. There just like executables.

This image is not visible to idiots.

McAfee couldn't figure out if a file named VIRUS.exe was jpg, or a horrible virus.

They probably didn't, just change the headers so it looks like it came from you.
