hi all,

I am currently putting together a collection of cubic textures and skyboxes. what sort of demand is there for skyboxes and cubic maps? What is the preferred size for cubic textures? I am currently making 512x512 (per face) resolution cubic maps. what resolutions would you like to see? What type of maps do you think are most in demand ie: space / sky / abstract.

my collection currently stands at 15 cubic maps and it's growing by about 2 or 3 a day depending on the complexity of the initial renders.

part of the collection will be a series of high resolution seamless skydrops (x axis) that are sutable for 2d games. I have also devised a system for creating SKY DOMES which afford a lot less distortion at the edges than the standard cube arrangement. this is done using subdiv surfaces which are pre mapped with the cubic maps.
my first impression of the dome system is 'much better than cubes'.
and after making a little space demo with one of the maps, i have to say, i developed a smile on my face.

Please tell me what you would like to see in a collection of this type.

regards geecee3.
