If I just have a single plain and apply a texture to it then if I go to the other side of the plane it will vanish. So can we make a texture visible on both sides of a plain?

just turn the backface culling off/on to show the texture on both sides or not.

I reckon SET OBJECT ObjNo,1,1,0 might do the trick.
