Can someone tell me if pc 3200 memory would work in my pc2100 enabled motherboard? i know it would not work any faster than the boards max speed but i plan on upgrading my mobo in a month or two but this month i want to get a 512mb stick of memory and if it will work in my old board then when i upgrade to a new board i will have the max speed memory for the new board. It's a elite k7s5a btw.

Thanx

In my experience, it won't work, even though you'd think RAM could easily be downgraded. One of my mates got PC2500 (I think) RAM for his comp, while it only supported PC2100, and it wouldn't take it, so if I were you, I'd wait for the new system, or settle for a lower speed.

Well I am using DDR500 in a DDR400 mobo. The advantage for me is I can run it at CAS 2 instead of CAS 3
