You become a mod by being a long time trusted member of the forums.

Which you are not.

I'd wait a few years

u have 9999 days before u may ask again.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

You have to send $50 to each of the already existing mods.

Then you also have to go through many trials which are near impossible to complete.

And I know I have no chance to be a mod, but would I be trustworthy enough for the job I'll never get.

Everytime someone new comes onto the forums this happens. I don't think there are any members who never asked this question.

One of the mods should make a thread saying the rules, some other info like becoming a mod and all of that kind of stuff. Something for new forum members to read.

To answer your question, you got to be here for like 2 or more years (sometimes less), be a really good helper, and be wise and be mature. Help about 5000 newcomers, make a really good game, and help out everyone and wait about 2 years and maybe you could become a mod.

It's not just age. You need to be able to show a certain bit of restraint, maturity and trustworthiness.

Plus you have to be a popular figure.

I won't expect there to be any mroe fo a long time, and then some of the older users to be chosen.

And you definitly have to be very mature. take RPGamer for example. Most people thought or think he is like 20 something years old but he isn't, he is very mature. He is only 15 or 16 years old. (I think)

Good forum behaviour is a must. For example, there are any number of locked threads in the code snippets board authored by Nukesoft in which he is asking for da codez.

I wouldn't wanna touch this apollo trainwreck.

Quote: "But he ahs mod powers on IRC (?)"

Thats because the #darkbasic room has no official affiliation with The Game Creators. Thus if a Apollo mod is in TGC, we do not have to give them powers. We are only a fan group (although a few of us aren't really that ).

And its OP powers, no mods in IRC.

Oh, ok.

I'm not that annoying. I don't start asking "How do I become a mod" and post like that I have been here for 2 & a half years. Although I did ask that same question when I first came here because I was just wondering what you did to become a mod.

P.S. If I am annoying, sorry.

I have Op status in the irc but i hardly log in as it, only when needed. I was granted Mod status here because I guess i was very helpfull for a long time and became part of the woodwork, recently Ive had many things on my plate so I have not been so active but still around. There is a good range of Mods now here I feel. It also helps to have people in different time zones.

Moderator status is a blessing in disguise, it can polarise people, they either carry on liking you or they turn on you like a pack of wolves in the dark of night with a fullmoon. You have to try to be subjective to all people regardless of how foolish they may be. Sometimes tho its fun to ban the numtys, I have spys all over the joint helping me so together the job gets done if other mods miss it.

Thats exactly what happened last time with fecal boy and his fetish for poo.

I guess you earn a position of authority with respect and wisdom, and a small amount of luck.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself
