Hi all, well, i am doing a research project that require us to collect a number of data to make a reserach paper. My topic is to discuss relation between 2 factors. Well, for 1 of the factors,

"How much time do you use the internet per day, and what do you use it for?"

I cant tell you the 2nd factors for that might become bias...could you guys help me a bit by answering that question? , thank you so so much. university is killing me....gahh

During a School Day, its usually five hours, weekends its sixteen. I use it for:

1) Chatting with several programming communitites
2) Showing off my work
3) Chatting with my friends
4) Researching
5) Shopping
6) Playing Online Games

And one other thing that I'm sure every single person in this forum does...

Cheers,
Preston

Porn approx 10 hours.

But my definition of porn's a little odd, I consider this forum to be porn.

It's amazing how much TV has raised us. (Bart Simpson)

I use it as a load-bearing beam in my popsicle stick house.

If my computer is on, I'm online. Even if i'm not at it, it'll be on 24/7 usually downloading or uploading something in my absence.

It is an invaluable tool for long distance communication; With it can speak to people it would be expensive to otherwise, as well as opens up a much larger client range than I could've hoped to reach without it.

So;
Business, Communication, Games, Research, Learning, etc... effective it replaces everything cept TV and Going Out

looking at around 10-14hrs of use a day.

Probably about 4 hours a day, most of it during work - getting paid to sit on the forums and type nonsense is not a bad way to kill the working day. I don't really use the internet for much else, occasional research, looking for graphics stuff, game cheats for the boy - that's about all. Sorta negates the point in getting a 1mb connection if it's just for the DB forums!, I should really play more BF-Vietnam or something to make it worthwhile (I would if not for the spawn killing hairy-backs that I end up playing against every time).

I work from home so pc is permanently connected around 14 hours a day.

Mainly used to administer remote web servers, upload websites our company upkeep, etc

Also used to connect direct to clients pc's using vpn's to sort out their software problems.

My best friend is Google who helps me with virtually every hardware or software related problem related to work. Without it I'd be stuffed. No other search engine comes close to giving me quick, semi-reliable results.

When I get bored of working I'll have a break and browse a few forums and news websites.

Boo!

10 points of usage for me.

5 points - work : uploading, downloading, email, research
2 points - online gaming : web based, game server based
1 point - radio or music downloads
1 point - random web searches
1 point - irc or chat based

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

Hehe, ok sometimes - but they're mostly for my son. I'm waiting on him asking for cheats for Fable and StarWars Battlefront, hehe - I have a rule that he only gets cheats when he's totally stuck, or he's finished the game and wants to unlock stuff - I can't stand it when people buy a game then go off and find a cheat straight away.

I work from 5:30am until 5:00pm monday to friday, so im only on from after work till i go to bed that's roughly 6 hours a nite cause i go to bed around 1:00am. On sat though im usually on the comp from 9 or 10am until 3 or 4am pretty much nonstop, so that's roughly 17 hours. I spend most of my time modeling and programming, i very rarely but once in a while will play a game or chat on msn, on the nite's that i don't model or program that much i will surf modeling or programming site's.

at least 9 hours or more a day...

I use it for everything from being my personal assistant, (remember things, looking up phone numbers and addresses)

chatting
forums
reading
writing
playing
webby things

of course, there are days in the week where I don't touch it..
So I may use it for 8 - 10 hours a day during the weekend and a couple days in the week, and then run off and hang out with family or friends for two or three days in the week..
