you should really mention your motherboard and cpu as some newer cards might not work in an older machine if thats what you have.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

Bulk is when you buy a lot of the same item at a lower price. Retail is when you buy the item at MSRP. I don't know anything about graphics cards so I was going to buy the best seller card at TigerDirect.

windows has a built "system information" program or use "aida32" downloaded off the net

FarCry will run happily on a 1GHZ/256MB/GeForceFx 5200 system (at medium everything 1024x768)
Doom3 will run alright on a 1.5GHZ/256MB/GeForceFX 5200 system (High - 800x600), but for Doom3 i would STRONGLY suggest 512MB Ram.

Loading times half (literally); if you have 2GB, you'll notice Doom3 loads are as quick as those from Half-Life 1 (which is pretty cool).

theif3 you want an NVIDIA card. this isn't me being a fan, it uses a HIGH ammount of volumetric shadows and nvidia shadows. you know there is a speed difference when a GeForceFX 5600 can outperform the 9600XT heh

not tried blood rayne 2 yet, it's on my Friday download list though ... can't say no to a game who's advert has her leather clad ass as one of the cool new features

ok, so a nVidia is better then ATI?

Your motherboard only has a 4x AGP slot maximum, although nearly every card I can think of should still work with it, your not going to get maximum performance out of a lot of cards with the system you have, an FX5600 is probably about the best performance gain you'll get before the rest of the system starts to play a part. Should also be about the price you where looking at as well.

Running an FX5200 on this machine at the moment and is has done me proud over the past year or so, just ordered a new 6600GT PCI-E card (w00t no AGP bridge) which was around £150 ($210), it was the other £650 ($910) worth of kit to make it work that was expensive lmao (It's only going to be used to play EQ2).

but does anyone know who is the best to buy from?
like Shappire, aOpen, XFX, Albatron, Asus, Matrox, etc. etc.

I found one (the only one I found) from Gainward:

is this worth it? if so then I can afford a new hd aswell
